The Dolls where so fascinating, i was thinking who had owned them ? The more primitive wood dolls where so sweet.
We then went on to Portobello Market in West London.
Hey Evie and Nora Cats what you doing here ? :)
It was really interesting but very busy - you could hardly move.
Lots of quirky antique stalls, some rather yucky fur coats stalls !!
Foods from across the world, handmade clothes and jewellery - lots of talent tucked away, so many things, i could have spent all day wandering.
I just Love this next photo....
We spent a lot of time in South London where my Husband is from - on his birthday he wanted to go to Manzies
One of the oldest Meat pie cafes in London - a restaurant would be pushing it in description.
Meat Pies are very traditional - have you seen Sweeny Todd ? I thought i would hate it but the pie and liquor was tasty - the liquor is parsley sauce ( i had a few mouthfuls as rather hefty in the calories)
Its served with mash and you sprinkle chilli vinegar on !
The inside of Manzies has not changed in years
Our last Day in London we went to a west end play called 'Blood Brothers' at the Phoenix theatre, that was amazing and a wonderful end to a fascinating trip...so many ideas for new paintings, especially inspired by the Toy Museum and the wanderings in London.
I hope you have enjoyed a peek at my tales of London.
What do you think of the dolls ?
Have a favourite place you would like to share in London ?
Do you have interesting markets / stalls where you are ?
Be Great to hear from you

You have some lovely photos, glad you enjoyed your London weekend xxx
Aww lovely post Heidi, so exciting! I want a meat pie! :) I love the dolls too, the one with the cracked face, and the punch and judy are particularly creepy. Have you been to Edinburgh? We went to a toy museum there, and there was a room full of dolls, there were some old ones from other countries that didn't even look like dolls, more like would with nails in, it was fascinating.
My favourite place in London is probably the Tate Modern, although it would be cool to go to Pollocks Toy Museum, I've never heard of it. A few years (6???) back when I was poor, jobless, sad and living in London, I went to the Tate Modern for the day, and found it utterly peaceful even though it was busy. Thanks for sharing your adventures :)
Yay, it's so good to hear you had such a fantastic time!! That toy museum looks amazing! And I love a museum where they allow you to take photographs! I love the classic faces on some of these dolls and the cracked one is so cool, but scary too!
It's been far too long since I've been to London. What I do remember was going to Forbidden Planet (yes, I'm a geek...), I loved it!!! xxx
I really enjoyed your post H. Lots of inspiration for when I/we visit next.
If we were rich...wouldn't it be nice to pop back and forth to London, for a show or a bit of shopping....an exhibition maybe...sigh.
I agree with you all the doll with the cracked face is so creepy, i wonder what happened to her ? You kind of expect her to appear in your nightmares !
TrudiKate i need to look up the Burragher Market. sounds great especially if its food :P
I love Edinburgh, although not been in ages but now Dawn you tell me there is a toy museum there i need to go and check it out :0 -
Danny i just thought not sure i was allowed to take pics, i just did - Love The Forbidden planet - and geeks are the best !
Hensteeth i was thinking the same if i was rich i would love to just pop back and forth to London, i manage to go around 2 times a year and try and stuff as much in...when we went down the more posh places in London i was quite envious of the wonderful Georgian and Victorian houses...Greenwich my most favourite place to go along with Black heath has the most amazing house i would love to live in them...well one house would do :) xxx

Great photos, Heidi! I love wondering about who owned the dolls, what were they like? Imagine if they could talk...I would totally be down for some meat pie, sister! And mashed peas and a big ole pint of British Ale. So glad you two had a great time in London! xoxox
