Little Nore

Introducing "Little Nore"

With a fizzing and whizzing of ideas and suggestions for the collection of Heidi M's plushies and watercolour illustrations finally there is...."Little Nore".
It has been a really pickle to try and find something that i felt represented my creations. Nora Doll i loved however it defined her as a doll and Nora is so much more.
Do you  like the new name...You will be seeing so much more soon.
Also did you know Little Nore has her very own twitter account ?

Little Nore at the beach with friends.

The bank Holiday was blazing hot, and the beaches here in Bournemouth where jammed packed.

Whilst i was on the beach i heard the sound of an ice cream van,but no van pulled up, instead a little boat selling ice-creams from the sea, i wished i had my camera so i could have shared this unusual but quirky sight.

Sadly i am packing up my studio space, i have to move. This all came as a bit of a shock but the landlord found out i had cats and wants us to move immediately.I am finding it all a bit stressful at the moment as lots of things are happening, but i remind myself at this time of the blessing in my life and my creativity is one of my biggest, so despite the studio being packed up i will continue to work, create and dream and hope that this tricky time will pass.
Sending you my love and creative hugs

Illustration Friday - Journey

Journey
The Journey the Heart will do in your lifetime.
Who have you loved, lost, kissed and held under the moonlight? Who made your heart sing and your soul weep? The Journey of the heart that beats through time taking us to who knows where.
The Journey of The Heart
This is my piece for Illustration Friday, I had not sent in a submission for a while, but as my sleeping is not so good i had plenty of time to do this.
Where has your Journey of The Heart taken you?

Tantrums

Do you ever feel like you just want to have a Tantrum, through a hissy fit and scream and yell and stamp your feet ?
Well that was me this week, all though i have restrained myself from a full on child in a supermarket tantrum.

I have been frustrated with my illustrations, about moving it on into the right direction, feeling lost and a little despondent i want  to get things moving. Impatient, and ungrateful..that was me....that is me!
So a step back is needed and appreciate what i have and not what i haven't.

So what have i been up to? Well i have been  doing some commissioned work, which is fabulous working very hard to hopefully give the clients what they want-but trying to translate there vision is not always  straight forward,..loving the briefs though.
I found a lovely little haberdashery and picked up some blank buttons that cried out for some handmade decoration

So here are my Nora Buttons. They measure 29mm I used calico and drew my Nora character on them. I rather like them so will be trying some more and am thinking of adding them to my upcoming shop.

I have also been drawing some new Characters that i plan to make into dolls, and paintings/prints and possible a little cartoon strip, a break away for Nora but you can still see its created by me.

And lastly today i added a new blog header and blog buttons and if you are here reading this then you will have seen.
Always welcome and love your comments and Thoughts.

My Beloved.......

I have be so blessed to have had pets throughout my life so far.
Inspiring me always in my illustrations and creations.

My very first  pet being a pull along dog

My pets have been so precious to me, each one having there own personality to make me laugh, smile, love and adore. They have also been and continue to a be a fascinating and wonderful inspiration in my illustrations and in my creation in fabric. My very first cat was called Ben, a brave and big ginger tom cat, at 2 years old i thought he was huge and more like a lion, all he wanted from me was a cuddle and i would run screaming thinking he had plans to eat me, i did him love him though.
We had two beautiful Golden Retrievers too when  Kirsty and Honey, my blonde bombshells i was the one this time following them around for hugs and kisses am sure if dogs could roll there eyes in a " not another squeeze" look they would have. When i left home for art college i was so excited as i Betty came to live with me a fiesty, often grumpy but gorgeous tabby she was followed by Peggy and Lolli all sister together and all hating each other with passion. Sadly when i moved they stayed and i had to say goodbye although i didn't know it at the time. Each day i think of them and hope they are in a sunspot enjoying life.
Last year Murtle came into my life but all to briefly

As you can see she was adorable, she stole my heart. I loved her so much but sadly she had to be put to sleep due to an awful illness. She suited her name and was impish and oh so cute with the biggest blue eyes. Each morning i would get up to see her fluffy self chasing mischief, i miss her very much

The time felt right to welcome in new loves and along came Evie and Nora

Evie is beautiful, sensitive and a lovely sweet nature. Nora is a little dumpling obsessed with cuddles and food. Her name is also the inspiration behind my Character "Nora"

Here i am again with Evie and Nora my little dumplings

I would adore a dog to but this isn't possible, am sure to the relief of Evie and Nora, so i have created an imaginary dog...Blazer

He will be a new character you will see much more of

I would love to hear about your pets and how they inspire you in you life in your creative work?

Inspiration from my childhood

A long time ago i was a tiny little girl who's dreams of drawing began with books. I have loved books from as early as i can remember, pages containing the most amazing tales of magical cities, of adventures in far away lands, of strange creatures, cute children, dogs that talk and cats that fly.
My imagination sparked i never lost my passion for books, and the illustrations that lay within the pages.
I have always kept the excitement of being a child finding a new book inside my heart, with each illustration i do i remember the magic of storytelling.

Quentin Blake's illustrations have been my biggest inspiration, his spontaneous characters are so unique. He can tell wonderful stories without a word..beyond brilliant..all hail Quentin Blake

Brambly Hedge is on the other side of the stream, across the field. If you can find it, and if you look very hard amongst the tangled roots and stems, you may even see a wisp of smoke from a small chimney, or through an open door, a steep flight of stairs deep within the trunk of a tree. For this is the home of the mice of Brambly Hedge

Mog's absent minded ways get her into trouble. For instance, she forgets that she has a cat flap in the kitchen door, so she squashes the flowers in the window box trying to get the Thomas family's attention. But when her forgetfulness helps to catch a burglar, Mog becomes a hero. Cartoonish drawings capture Mog's eccentric ways and the warmth of the Thomases.

Ladybird books where really popular when i was young, from stories to factual...i wasn't so keen on the factual ones, i never had any desire to learn the workings or trains!

I loved Twinkle and would hope each Christmas for the latest annual, Annual where popular books of favourite stories and comics, i don't really see them any more which is testament to the decline of children reading

Shirley Hughes is just amazing, her illustrations that have filled over 50 books !!! and have delighted and inspired me and so many others for years. Each illustrations contains so much detail a story within a story
